School Clubs & Activities

2016-2017

Signups for all after school clubs will be held the week of September 12-16 in the Main Lobby from 7:20-7:35AM. Activities begin the week of September 19th and end at 2:50 PM each day.There is NO LATE BUS. Students must make arrangements for transportation.

Drama Club Produces a play in May. Looking for actors and behind-thescenes crew members. WEDNESDAY

MathCounts Like to crunch numbers? This math club is for you. Regional and state competitions. WEDNESDAY

Student Council Student Council officers and team representatives will be elected by the student body in late September. An informational meeting will be held on a date TBD. Nomination forms are available on the office counter beginning September 12th.

Birchland Banner Writes and produces the school literary magazine. WEDNESDAY

Future Cities Use your creativity and engineering skills to design a city of the future. Includes state competitions. WEDNESDAYS

Intramurals Co-curricular sports activities in gymnasium and on athletic fields. MEETS MULTIPLE DAYS AND STUDENTS CAN SIGN UP BY SEASON/SPORT

Strings Orchestra Participates in local and regional performances and competitions. WEDNESDAY. SEE MRS. SOSNOSKI.

Chorus Participates in local and regional performances and competitions. THURSDAY. SEE MRS. SOSNOSKI.

Band Participates in local and regional competitions. SEE MR. HUMASON

Jazz Band Participates in local and regional competitions. Audition required. SEE MR. HUMASON

Art Club Hand-made projects will include origami, mask-making, pottery, painting, and jewelry making. Students will organize a gallery for a student Art Show. WEDNESDAY

Diversity Club Diversity Club is a place where Birchland Park Middle School students of all backgrounds can come together to: promote inclusion, to celebrate both our differences and what we share in common, to investigate issues that affect our community, and to engage in projects that will help make our world a better

place. MONDAY

Environmental Science Club The Environmental Science club is a fun way to explore the world around you! Discover how things work in the environment, ways to be sustainable at home, and go on explorations learning interesting things along the way. We will keep you up to date on important environmental news and you will take part in helping keep Birchland "green." THURSDAY

TV Studio Club TV Club is where we produce video content for the school audience, the entire town, and sometimes YouTube. Students produce short documentaries (packages) about school related topics, and/or help produce “Spotlight on EL” - a talk studio show that airs on ELCAT and YouTube. THURSDAY/FRIDAY
